GG Jackson Gives His Assessment On South Carolina's Play This Season
While Saturday afternoon didn't go the way Lamont Paris and South Carolina's men's basketball team were hoping for, Gamecock fans were treated to a visit from GG Jackson, the hometown kid who was a part of Paris' inaugural team and is currently making a name for himself with the Memphis Grizzlies at the NBA level. Before the game, Jackson met with the media and was asked some questions, including one about what he was seeing from this South Carolina team.
GG jokingly admitted that he wishes he could be a part of the team's magical season some nights but believes their overall buy-in with Lamont's system and their willingness to play together have made the difference this season.
"You know, sometimes when I'm down, if I have a bad game, I think back like, 'man, I could have been No. 11 in the country with these guys,' you know? But it just goes to show the kind of coach Coach Lamont Paris is," Jackson said. "He really knows the game inside [and] out and [it] just shows the work these guys have been able to put in, stemming from Meechie [Johnson], the head of the snake. He's been playing his tail off. You know, that's my guy. I got to speak to him when I got home. But, you know, they're more of a team than we ever were last year. That just shows the growth and the maturity [of] everybody, because they want to win and they're doing it."
