BREAKING: Kamilla Cardoso To Miss Missouri, UConn Matchups For Olympic Qualifiers
Coming out of their recent win over the Ole Miss Rebels, South Carolina's head women's basketball coach, Dawn Staley, made a revelation to the media that the Gamecocks are set to play without one of their most important players over the next seven days. Center Kamilla Cardoso, who's a native of Brazil, will be joining her home country's national team over the next seven days as they look to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympic games taking place in Paris.
Due to this obligation, Cardoso will miss South Carolina's next two games against Missouri and, more notably, No. 11 UConn. Will Kamilla being abroad, Ashlyn Watkins, Sania Feagin, Chloe Kitts, and Sakima Walker will now have to put up the slack in the front court. The big question that the Gamecocks will have to answer for themselves is what will they do offensively without the senior's towering presence in the paint? They'll have a chance to work out their kinks against the Tigers before facing a team in the Huskies who could take better advantage of this recent development.
