MiLaysia Fulwiley was a name many South Carolina Gamecock fans knew coming out of high school when she was ranked the 13th-best player in the country and best player in the Palmetto state. It also didn't take Fulwiley very long to wow and impress both the media and fans, dropping ten or more points in each of her first five outings; that stretch included an 18-point outing against Clemson, which was her career high, until last night.

On Sunday, South Carolina defeated the Texas A&M Aggies by 35 points and was led by Fulwiley with a team and career high of 21 points. Her performance last night was her second-best shooting performance of her young college career, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and limiting turnovers with only two. More importantly, she was able to play great defense while not fouling, showing great discipline and growth in an area that, at times, has been a struggle for her as a young freshman.

Dawn Staley and this staff know that while Fulwiley is still very young and has plenty to learn, she has to remain confident in her ability. There's more basketball to be played, and if Fulwiley can continue to play with the same aggression and confidence as she did last night against the Aggies, not only can she surpass her career high once again, but it could also be the beginning of a clear and obvious period of maturation.
