Head Coach Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks cruised into the Colonial Life arena this Friday, looking to continue their winning streak against George Washington. South Carolina's defense started strong, holding George Washington to only two made baskets in their first ten shots. The Gamecocks continued their good defensive performance and finished the game strong on the offensive side, winning 88-65 to remain undefeated.

Coming into this game, we broke down some significant numbers, and the Gamecocks needed to come out with efficient shooting from the floor. That's precisely what they did. The story in the first half was just how efficient they were, shooting nearly 52% from the floor and making eight of their eighteen shots behind the arch. Several players saw some shots go in tonight in the first half, led by guard Meechie Johnson, who had 10 points at halftime. The only concern was the second-chance opportunities the Gamecocks gave up, allowing eight offensive boards but only giving up one point.

The start of the second half could not have gone any worse from a shooting standpoint. Coming out of halftime, the Gamecocks had plenty of shots and opportunities. However, they could only make three of their first twelve shots. The most crucial part of this second half was South Carolina's ability to fight through that shooting slump, making important shots when they needed them.

The Gamecocks, led by BJ Mack, had 13 points alone in the second half. They would however go on a crucial 14-0 run midway through the second half and wouldn't look back. While the second half didn't start the way Lamont Paris would have liked, they finished strong, taking care of business, scoring a season-high 89 points in a game and breaking a single game record making 18 three pointers. South Carolina will remain undefeated at 7-0 on Wednesday night, heading into a huge matchup with Clemson.
