Former Gamecock Aliyah Boston Earns WNBA Rookie of the Month Honors
As expected, former South Carolina forward Aliyah Boston has been tearing it up in the WNBA. After being selected first overall in the 2023 Draft by the Indiana Fever, many fans expected Boston to carryover her dominance with the Gamecocks to the professional ranks. Through her first four professional games, Boston has averaged 15.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks a game.
After her excellent start in the WNBA, Boston has earned WNBA Rookie of the Month honors for May. After being one of the most dominant women's college basketball players over the past few years, Boston has already begun her reign in the WNBA.
Winning just the first Rookie of the Month of the year, Boston is expected to take the award home a few more times this season. The Fever sit at 1-3 on the season thus far, taking home just one game against the Atlanta Dream. Boston dropped 13 points and seven rebounds in that game with a steal.
Though she is just a rookie, Boston has already emerged as one of the top players in the league. Her 15.8 points per game currently ranks 16th in the league, and her six rebounds a game currently ranks 21st in the league. It is only a matter of time before she becomes one of the best players in the WNBA.
