Gamecock Guard Brea Beal Declares For WNBA Draft
Dawn Staley and South Carolina's Women's Basketball program are about to see the winds of change travel through Columbia this offseason, mainly in terms of the personnel on their roster. Superstar forward Aliyah Boston announced one day after the Gamecocks' Final Four loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes that was entering her name into the WNBA Draft pool, but since then, things have been oddly quiet with the rest of South Carolina's star-studded senior group.
That all changed on Tuesday morning, as senior guard and defensive stalwart Brea Beal, via social media, became the second Gamecock to announce that she was declaring for the WNBA Draft.
Brea was the player out of the "freshies" group who arguably witnessed the most growth in her game this past season, as she posted career highs in total points scored, three-point shooting percentage, assists and blocks, becoming more of a two-way player on the floor for South Carolina. Her career year has undoubtably improved her draft stock, making it understandable why she's decided it's time to move onto the next stage of her basketball career.
