BREAKING: South Carolina's WBB Team Named No. 1 Overall Seed For NCAA Tournament
To the surprise of no one, South Carolina's women's basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed for NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament.
For the fourth straight season in a row, Dawn Staley and South Carolina's women's basketball program finds themselves as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. It marks the eleven straight tournament appearance for Carolina and the eighth time in program history that they're a No. 1 seed. The Gamecocks finished the regular season unblemished and went on to sweep the competition in the SEC Tournament to claim their eighth SEC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship.
In the first round, Carolina will play the winner of the play-in game between Sacred Heart and Presbyterian. The Blue Hose made it to the tournament by winning the Big South Conference Tournament, while the Pioneers earned an automatic-qualifying bid by securing the Northeast Conference Tournament title. The second round matchup would take place against either North Carolina or Michigan State.
