How YOU Can Wish South Carolina's WBB Team Good Luck In Greenville!
South Carolina's official women's basketball Twitter announced on Wednesday that they'll be at the AC Hotel in Greenville, SC, on Saturday at 11:30 am for a send-off before the Sweet 16. Gamecock fans will get the unique chance to show appreciation for Dawn Staley and her 34-0 squad while also connecting spontaneously with fellow Gamecock die-hards. Just five minutes from the game venue, Bon Secours Wellness Arena, fans of all ages are encouraged to come out and support the team ahead of their 2:00 pm matchup with 4-seed UCLA. The event looks to be a fun and inspiring experience for young hoopers and adult Gamecock fans alike.
For young basketball players, it's easy to look up to the best athletes and coaches the sport offers because the basketball dream is usually to be the very best. However, when talent and high moral fiber align as it has with this group, a great teaching opportunity is presented. That makes this event special–the sharing of Gamecock fandom, with the chance to show their gratitude to their team's elite coaches and athletes and connect with role models like Dawn Staley.
USBWA Coach of the Year, Dawn Staley, has been a class act all season, most recently meeting with Norfolk St. players following the Gamecocks Round of 64 win for a moment of respect and encouragement for the HBCU. The meeting with Norfolk State following their final game of the season was a gesture embodying sportsmanship and displayed what being a Gamecock is all about.
The event will be brief, as South Carolina will be en route to Bon Secours Arena. However, fans can look forward to sharing Gamecock rallying cries and presumably a statement from Coach Staley and Gamecock stars.
