Chico Carter Jr. Enters The Transfer Portal
Lamont Paris and his coaching staff are currently in the midst of trying to reconstruct South Carolina's roster, after finishing a rollercoaster of a season with an 11-21 record earlier this month. This reconstruction has involved heavy transfer portal activity, which has involved the staff reaching out to an abundance of portal entries while also seeing a few of their announce their intentions to head elsewhere.
On Monday afternoon, the Gamecocks found out that arguably their most efficient shooter from a season ago, Chico Carter Jr., was entering the transfer portal, signaling the likely end of his career at South Carolina.
Carter made his impact felt most on the offensive end as a catch-and-shoot two-guard this past season, where he averaged 9.8 points per game, shooting 47 percent from the floor and a career-high 48 percent from the three-point line. Unfortunately for Chico, the previous season was plagued with a severe case of knee tendonitis that eventually led to him having surgery and being shut down for the remainder of the season.
