After a week off, heading into the final five-game stretch of the season, the South Carolina Gamecocks were looking for a much-needed win. While the last two losses sting, the remaining schedule provides opportunities to improve their resume. Carolina needed to get back to their style of defense, aggressive, forcing the mid-range jumper, and finding some consistency on offense. Doing just that, Lamont Paris and crew get a resume booster with an 72-59 win in Oxford.

South Carolina did a lot of what they've done all season, which has led to their success: playing tough defense and forcing Ole Miss without a basket for just over seven minutes of gameplay. While they saw themselves get into foul trouble, they stayed aggressive on the defense end and forced another six-plus minute drought for Ole Miss.  Offensively, they played their game, shooting 55.6% from three, and have gotten to the free throw line.

South Carolina took over where they left off in the first half, continuing their aggressive defense style and forcing many contested shots. Even with Ole Miss shooting over 50% in the first part of the second half, they also forced some crucial turnovers. Carolina also continued to be consistent. They attacked the boards on offense, got those second-chance points, and maintained that double-digit lead throughout the second half.

With a more characteristic performance and a sigh of relief for Lamont Paris now, as the Gamecocks get back to winning and improve to 22-2(10-4) on the season. Another Quad one win to the resume, and South Carolina returns on the road Wednesday night to face Texas A&M.
