South Carolina MBB Bracketology Update: February 20th
The South Carolina Gamecocks men's basketball team is currently getting some extra time off as they have no midweek game this week, which will be good both in terms of getting the players some extra rest and potentially allowing them to hit a reset button after dropping back-to-back games for the first time all season this past week. The losses were detrimental to the Gamecocks' résumé in different ways, as they were blown out by 40 points in Auburn this past Wednesday and lost to a .500 LSU squad at home just three days ago.
Those results have already been reflected in the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls this week, with South Carolina coming in at No. 20, nine spots lower than where they ranked last week. The Gamecocks are also taking a hit in Tournament Projections from a few bracketologists.
NCAA Tournament Projections
CBS Sports' Jerry Palm: No. 6-seed in East Region (No. 21 Overall)
ESPN's Joe Lunardi: No. 7-seed in West Region (No. 28 Overall)
NCAA Analyst Andy Katz: No. 6-seed in West Region (No. 24 Overall)
Field Of 68 Network: No. 7-seed in West Region (No. 28 Overall)
Looking at Carolina's final five games of the season, they'll have plenty of chances to move back up the seed lines as each remaining game is a Quad 1 opportunity based on the current NET rankings.
