Gamecocks Jalon Kilgore & Trovon Baugh Named Freshman All-SEC Selections
On Thursday, the SEC released the 2023 All-Freshman team as voted on by the coaches, and not one, but two Gamecock freshmen made the list, DB Jalon Kilgore and OT Trovon Baugh.
Kilgore, a true freshman from Eatonton, GA, earned playing time from the start, playing in every game in 2023, logging minutes at the nickel corner and safety positions. He tallied 76 total tackles, the second best mark on the team, and 16th best mark in the SEC, and notched the sixth best mark among all freshman in the FBS in tackles per game with 6.33. Kilgore was also recently named a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, and named a third-team Freshman All-American by College Football News.
On the other hand, Trovon Baugh, a native of Atlanta, played in 11 games, and emerged as the starting right guard in week five against Tennessee, holding onto the job for the remainder of the season, and didn't give up a single sack in 391 pass-blocking snaps according to Pro Football Focus.
