Where In-State Gamecock Commits Are Slotted In SCHSL Playoff Bracket
The football staff for South Carolina's Football program has nailed a couple of different objectives in the first few years of the Shane Beamer tenure: recruit the offensive line and quarterback positions at a high level and keep the best talent in the state of South Carolina home. The Gamecocks have accomplished both of those goals in spades, and to know what degree to which they've done so, you need look no farther than the 2024 recruiting class Carolina currently possesses.
Beamer and Co. have five of the top seven prospects from the Palmetto State in the 2024 class currently committed to their program. That group includes four-star offensive linemen Josiah Thompson and Kam Pringle, four-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett, four-star safety Kelvin Hunter, and three-star interior o-lineman Blake Franks.
One way to see how each of these prospects could help the program elevate to new heights in the coming years is to see whether or not their current high school football team is in the state playoffs, and in the case of all of these commits, as mentioned above, they are.
Prospects (Respective Schools) & First Round SCHSL Playoff Opponents
Josiah Thompson (Dillon): vs North Charleston (Class 3A Lower State)
Kam Pringle (Woodland): at Cheraw (Class 2A Lower State)
Mazeo Bennett & Blake Franks (Greenville): vs South Aiken (Class 4A Upper State)
Kelvin Hunter (West Florence): at Lucy Beckham (Class 4A Lower State)
As November progresses, we'll see how many Gamecock commits at these respective South Carolina high schools can advance all the way to the title game for their respective classification.
