2025 Gamecock RB Target Commits To SEC Foe
It hasn't been a great last couple of days for the South Carolina Gamecocks as far as recruiting the running back position is concerned. This past weekend, 247Sports National Director of High School Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged in a crystal ball prediction for the Alabama Crimson Tide to land long-time Gamecock target Daniel Hill, a four-star running back from the 2024 class.
On Wednesday, South Carolina's board took another hit, this time with a 2025 running back prospect in Justin Baker, who committed to the Tennessee Volunteers earlier this evening.
Shane Beamer and his staff seemed to be in heavy contention to land Baker, who had included the Gamecocks in his Top 6 he released back on July 4th, and taken four visits to Columbia this year alone, including one for Carolina's week four bout against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
While there's obviously plenty of time for things to change in that recruitment, future options continue to dwindle at this position for South Carolina, who will likely need to hit the portal this coming offseason should they not sign another back in the 2024 cycle.
