Shane Beamer Updates Health Status Of Mario Anderson Jr., Two Other Starters
With the South Carolina Gamecocks staring down back-to-back SEC road matchups and having already accumulated four losses in their first six contests of the season, the last thing they can afford is more injuries, especially when the margin for error is so small at certain position groups. Three key starters left the game or played through injury in last weekend's loss to the Florida Gators: RB Mario Anderson Jr., LB Stone Blanton, and OL Vershon Lee.
On Tuesday afternoon, head coach Shane Beamer met with the media for his weekly press conference and gave the latest on each athlete. The good news came in the form of Mario Anderson Jr., who, according to Beamer, practiced on Tuesday and should be fine for Saturday's matchup against the Missouri Tigers.
However, the status of linebacker Stone Blanton and offensive lineman Vershon Lee remain in the air, as Blanton is deemed to be questionable with Lee being listed as doubtful to play in this week's pivotal conference matchup. However, One more positive development is unfolding along the offensive line, as Cason Henry, who's been out since week one, did some things in practice on Tuesday, showing that he's getting closer to making his potential return soon.
