A few days ago, Kirby Smart unofficially released the mantra for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2023: Better Never Rests. For Shane Beamer on Thursday morning, while he didn't deliver some simple one-liner that would serve as the mantra for his squad this upcoming Fall, he clearly conveyed one objective throughout the majority of his opening statement: recruiting never stops.

Recruiting is how teams like Georgia and Alabama have remained near or at the top of the sport for the past several years, and while no Gamecock fan is expecting South Carolina to bring in Top 3 recruiting classes consistently, Beamer fully understands that recruiting at the end of the day is where he has to excel. He has the perfect background to do it, serving as the Gamecocks' recruiting coordinator in the late 2000s and bringing in program-changing players like Alshon Jeffery, Marcus Lattimore, Stephon Gilmore, and several others.

He's also noted for how personable and genuine he is when interacting with people, which resonates with several prospects in his short time in Columbia. Beamer is also masterful at using anecdotal stories and players as examples in hidden recruiting pitches.

He brought up Spencer Rattler being voted as a team captain last Fall and the chance he could be one again in 2023, conveying that his program has fostered an environment where transfers can come in and contribute and be fully embraced by their teammates. He mentioned that Tonka Hemingway, whom he brought to Media Days, is a South Carolina native, stating that recruiting will "always start in the state of South Carolina."

He brought up how former Gamecock standout and new defensive tackles coach, Travian Robertson, was from the state of North Carolina and bluntly stated that South Carolina needs more guys from that area, a clear message to 2024 wide receiver target Jonathan Paylor. Near the end of his opening statement, Beamer made the following statement regarding his program's culture: "This program is not for everybody, but make no mistake about it, the culture in our football program has never been stronger since I took over as the football coach."

Some say he's a used car salesman, but that would infer that Beamer is trying to sell something to people that will never increase in value over time. Anyone who truly knows Shane Beamer knows that he believes the exact opposite when it comes to South Carolina. Recruiting never stops.
