As Dakereon Joyner changes positions for the third time in his Gamecock career, Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks may have found a player of a similar mold in 2023 Summer enrollee Kamron Sandlin. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound athlete from Anniston, AL, who's categorized as a tight end for the 2023 class despite playing quarterback for Anniston High School last Fall, is expected to play a little bit of running back for the Gamecocks this upcoming season.

Last year, Sandlin led the Bulldogs to an 11-1 record and into the third round of Alabama's 4A playoffs, which boosted his stock tremendously as a result. After taking an official visit to Mississippi State and visiting Tennessee two times, he decided to stick with the Gamecocks, and try a new position this upcoming season. Based on the reports that've come out of practice, however, it seems like the Gamecocks will, for the time being, ask the freshman to join the running back room to help with depth that has been identified as a potential concern for this upcoming season.

If Kamron gets any playing time this year, he will be one of the bigger backs on South Carolina's roster, being listed at 6'3, 220 pounds which would make him the tallest and the second biggest scholarship back in that group.
