Kingsley "JJ" Enagbare Grades Out As Best Defender In NFL Preseason
The NFL preseason has come to a close, meaning that hundreds of players are anxiously waiting to find out whether or not they'll make the 53-man roster or practice squad for their respective teams this Fall. One former Gamecock who won't have to worry about this scenario is Kingsley "JJ" Enagbare, an edge rusher for the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers drafted Enagbare in the 5th round of the 2022 NFL Draft, a surprise considering how draft experts viewed him at the end of his final college season at South Carolina in 2021. In his rookie campaign, JJ saw time as a rotational edge rusher but did start seven games for Green Bay, racking up 31 total tackles, three sacks, and three pass deflections. Based on his Pro Football Focus grades, Kingsley has elevated his game this offseason, as in 49 recorded snaps, Enagbare posted a 93.5 defensive grade, 80.2 rush-defense grade, and 92.0 pass-rushing grade. Regarding players who saw time in all three weeks of the NFL preseason, JJ graded out as the best defender in the league.
Although he's currently listed as a third-stringer on the Packers depth chart, it's likely safe to assume that Kingsley will remain on the roster for now, thanks to his performance in August.
