Stephon Gilmore Traded to the Cowboys
Legal tampering for the new NFL season started Monday. The league wasted no time getting into the swing of things. Among the many moves made in the first two days, the Dallas Cowboys walked away with perhaps the biggest steal of free agency thus far, sending a late-round draft pick in exchange for former Gamecock, Stephon Gilmore.
Gilmore, the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, had an excellent 2022 season with the Colts. Though he isn't at the peak of his NFL playing career like he was back in 2019-2020, Gilmore has consistently been one of the best cornerbacks in the league.
Gilmore signed with Indianapolis this past season after a pro-bowl year with the Carolina Panthers. Gilmore's deal with the Colts was for two years, meaning the former Gamecock will be a free agent after this upcoming season.
The five-time pro bowler will be heading to Dallas in exchange for the Colts' fifth-round pick. Though Gilmore has dawned the jersey of four different teams in his 11-year career and will soon dawn a fifth, he has been a high-impact player at each stop he has made.
