Report: South Carolina Loses Analyst Freddie Kitchens To North Carolina
When you consider the amount of on-field and off-field progress made, Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program have had remarkable stability in the regime's first two years in Columbia.
In that period, only two on-field assistant coaches have left to take jobs elsewhere, with former edge and outside linebacker coach Mike Peterson heading back to his alma mater in the Florida Gators during the 2021 offseason and former offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield heading on to Nebraska to be the offensive play caller under Matt Rhule.
Beamer and the staff, however, are about going to deal a decent blow on the offensive side of the coaching staff, as according to On3's Senior National College Football Reporter Matt Zenitz, senior offensive analyst Freddie Kitchens is leaving to take an on-field coaching role with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
While Kitchens wasn't permitted to do any on-field coaching while in Columbia due to the NCAA rules regarding analysts on a staff, he played a vital role in breaking down film and helping to construct weekly game plans throughout the season and was the Gamecocks interim play caller in the Gator Bowl back in December.
