South Carolina Announces Sellout For Mississippi State Game
Ask any college football fan who pays close attention to the home environments that different teams possess, and most people, especially in the SEC, would list Williams-Brice Stadium as one of the most challenging environments to play in. This is particularly the case when South Carolina is either playing a big-time opponent or there's a palpable sense of optimism amongst the fanbase.
For the Gamecocks, optimism is undoubtedly the best word to describe the majority of the fanbase right now after Shane Beamer's squad went into Athens and gave the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs their toughest SEC test since their game against Missouri last season. Sure, South Carolina made some mistakes, and Georgia's overall talent advantage took over in the second half, but there were plenty of positives to take away from the game.
Now, the Gamecocks are in wounded animal mode to a certain extent because South Carolina's currently sitting at 1-2, and with what's sure to be a highly anticipated matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers coming in week five, in a way, this is a must-win game for the program. The good news for Beamer and company is that the fanbase isn't just optimistic after the Georgia game but also understands the importance of this upcoming game against Mississippi State, as the school announced on Monday afternoon that the game is officially sold out.
It's the Gamecocks' eighth sellout since the start of the 2022 season and their second one this season.
