Gamecock To Play Sold Out, Afternoon Game Against Florida Gators
The South Carolina Gamecocks have just crossed, or as some might say, limped through the finish line of one of the toughest September slates the program has dealt with in recent memory. In that stretch, Shane Beamer's squad played four games against Top 25 programs, three of which were against Power 5 football teams away from home. Their most recent contest was against the No. 21 Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville, a game that saw Carolina commit an array of mistakes on both sides of the ball.
That doesn't mean, however, that the Gamecocks have nothing to fight for the rest of the way, as bowl eligibility remains a distinct possibility considering the fact that South Carolina has FIVE home games remaining on the schedule, including their upcoming game against the Florida Gators in week seven. The Gators embarrassed the Gamecocks in Gainesville last season, not allowing a single offensive point to be scored, and had plenty of fun at Carolina's expense when the game was over.
Not only has this become a critical game for Beamer's team, but this one is also, in many ways, Carolina's revenge game that stems from the 2022 season. The Gamecocks fanbase understands this in full, as it was announced on Monday afternoon that the ticket allotment for that game had been sold out. Kickoff time is at 3:30 p.m. ET.
