The Halftime Report: South Carolina @ No. 1 Georgia
Shane Beamer's squad has come out swinging to start this game against the Georgia Bulldogs. It hasn't been pretty on each drive, but the way South Carolina's going to keep themselves in this game is by taking it one drive at a time. So far, they're doing a good job of keeping that mentality, as they lead Georgia by a score of 14-3 at halftime.
Let's start off with Spencer Rattler and the offense. Rattler once again has played with a ton of poise, as Dowell Loggains has called for a plethora of perimeter through RPO's, swings, and regular screen passes. However, there's been little attention put towards the run game, which is understandable to extent, but the Bulldogs essentially nullified the perimeter passing game since the Gamecocks first offensive drive. Xavier Legette continues to be a problem for opposing secondaries, as he's already racked up 68 receiving yards.
Defensively, the Gamecocks have done a great job of making stops when they absolutely needed to. The only thing Clayton White's unit has to do a better job of is creating disruption upfront and not allowing Georgia to string together new sets of downs. Clayton White is doing a good job of dialing up six-man blitzes that are incorporating Carolina's linebackers, and Stone Blanton specifically has been getting good pressure on Carson Beck when those plays have been called.
30 minutes to go, and the Gamecocks are up 11 points on the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Can they continue the fight and break Georgia's hearts?
