REPORT: South Carolina RB Mario Anderson Jr. Expected To Hit The Portal
The offseason is officially underway for Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program. After finishing the 2023 season with a disappointing 5-7 mark, the Gamecocks are now focused on roster retention and construction ahead of the most crucial offseason of Beamer's tenure to date. GamecocksDigest has fans covered with all the latest portal entries.
The portal window is from December 4 until January 3rd. If players don't transfer within that window, they must wait until April following Spring practice to enter the transfer portal. Last December, the Gamecocks lost their starting running back MarShawn Lloyd to the transfer portal, and it seems that could happen once again, as On3's Pete Nakos reported on Wednesday afternoon that Mario Anderson Jr. plans to enter the portal.
Coming off a First team All-American in 2022 at DII-Newberry College, Anderson became a big fixture in the Gamecocks' offense this Fall, running for 707 yards on 143 carries, and scoring three touchdowns in the process.
