AP RELEASE: Xavier Legette, Debo Williams Named Second Team All-SEC Selections
South Carolina's Football team didn't have quite the season they were hoping for in 2023, finishing with a 5-7 record, but that doesn't mean that they didn't have some individual players that showed out on the field every Saturday. With conference championship weekend now having concluded, postseason lists are beginning to come out recognizing the best players in each conference, and the Associated Press released there's on Monday night.
Gamecock fans will be happy to know that two Gamecocks made a list in wide receiver Xavier Legette and linebacker Debo Williams, with both being named Second Team All-SEC selections. Legette made the team for both what he did as a receiver and all-purpose player in 2023, racking up 71 catches for 1,255 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, with his receiving yards mark being the second highest single-season total in school history. Debo came on strong this Fall as a full-time starter for Carolina, compiling 113 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss, one sack and three pass deflections.
