South Carolina's quarterback room is going to look drastically different beginning in the 2024 season. Spencer Rattler announced on Wednesday afternoon that he will forgo his COVID year of eligibility and begin training for the NFL Draft taking place this coming April.

Now, per a report from TheBigSpur.com's John Whittle, two more quarterbacks in redshirt sophomore Colten Gauthier and redshirt freshman Tanner Bailey will also be departing the program via the transfer portal. Gauthier played against Eastern Illinois as a true freshman back in 2021, and against Furman back in week three of the 2023 season, completing two passes for 34 yards.

Bailey was a four-star quarterback who signed as a part of the 2022 class for the Gamecocks, and never appeared in any games. This new development means that South Carolina is now down to two scholarship quarterbacks heading into the offseason: LaNorris Sellers and Luke Doty, although Doty mainly played wide receiver this Fall. 2024 four-star Dante Reno is also set to join the program this offseason, but getting another quarterback is undoubtably a priority now for Shane Beamer and this staff.
