LOOK: NFL Draft Analyst Ranks Spencer Rattler As A Top 5 QB Prospect
Spencer Rattler is, without question, one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in recent college football history. His detractors would point to his inconsistent showings, the saga that unfolded at Oklahoma in 2021 that led to his benching, and his sometimes cavalier attitude when it comes to protecting the football as reasons why Rattler won't succeed at the next level.
However, other people would point to Spencer and say he's a "1%" in terms of his ability to make any throw from any arm slot and that when he's on like he was against Tennessee and Clemson in 2022, he's a quarterback few teams can stop. Most NFL Draft Analysts that look at the ceiling of these prospects tend to fit in the latter group regarding Rattler, including an NFL Draft Analyst for NFL Draft Lounge and host of The Sick Podcast, John Vogel. Vogel released his list of Top 50 Draft eligible quarterback prospects for the 2024 NFL Draft class on Wednesday night and slotted the Gamecocks' own Spencer Rattler No. 5 on the list.
Vogel had Spencer rated as the second-highest NFL Draft Prospect out of the SEC, ranking Tennessee's Joe Milton just one spot ahead of him at No. 4. Matt clearly believes that the ceiling that Rattler has displayed in certain spots, as of right now, would be worthy of an NFL franchise taking him early in the Draft, which these days, would likely make Rattler at the minimum an early second-round selection.
