REPORTS: Former President Donald Trump To Attend South Carolina-Clemson Game
As we'll break it down throughout the week, there'll be a lot riding on the 120th edition of the Palmetto Bowl on Saturday. For Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks, they'll be looking to win back-to-back games over their in-state rivals for the first time since the 2012-13 seasons, the tailed end of the flagship university's memorable five-game winning streak during the Steve Spurrier era. A win would also help the Gamecocks qualify for a bowl game, which would make Beamer just the second head coach in program history to make it to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons in Columbia, putting him alongside his predecessor in Columbia, Will Muschamp.
As if there weren't already enough headlines coming into this game, you can now add one more to it: a big one at that. Per reports from NBC affiliate stations in Columbia and Greenville, South Carolina, former president and 2024 republican candidate Donald Trump will be attendance for the Palmetto Bowl.
It's unknown when Trump will arrive and what this will mean for traffic patterns, but we'll be sure to stay up to date as best we can throughout the rest of the week right here on GamecocksDigest.
