Daniel Hill Becoming 'Increasingly Important' for South Carolina

Due to the high number of upperclassmen in the running back room, 2024 back Daniel Hill has become a top priority for South Carolina's Football staff.

While not hitting the panic button just yet, fans have become increasingly concerned over the outlook for South Carolina's 2024 recruiting class due to the lack of commitments in the past month. Though the Gamecocks have consistently been amongst the finalists for recruits like Keylen Adams, Braylen Russell, and Malcolm Ziglar, those prospects and others have all chosen to go elsewhere to continue their athletic careers.

There are still many positives to say about South Carolina's 2024 class, and there's also still plenty of time and recruits on the board for Shane Beamer and the coaching staff to land in trying to round out the class. A few specific positions, however, still need to be addressed, including the running back position, where the number of viable targets has become slim.

Due to the lack of complete skillsets in the room, running back is one of the higher priorities in the 2024 class for South Carolina. With limited eligibility left in the current running back room for the Gamecocks, the team knew they had to snag a couple of talents in the class to retool their arsenal. Landing three-star running back Matthew Fuller was a good start, but the Gamecocks know they need to land one more back to round out the class.

For that reason, South Carolina is looking forward to August 23rd, the decision date for running back Daniel Hill, a Mississippi native and one of the top rushing talents in the country. Considering the decreasing amount of rushing talent left uncommitted in the class, Hill has become even more of a top priority and need for the Gamecocks.

The good news here for Gamecock fans is there is some hope regarding securing Hill's pledge. On3's Recruiting Prediction machine currently gives the Gamecocks the best chance to land Hill by a hefty margin, based on expert predictions from On3's database and the visits Daniel has taken to Columbia.

Without a clear sense of direction as to where the running back room for South Carolina will be heading in the next four to five years, Hill is pivotal for the program finding that direction. The four-star last narrowed his recruitment down to five schools but is seemingly picking between Alabama and South Carolina. Beating the Crimson Tide would serve as a massive win for Shane Beamer and the program, especially considering the Tide's history at the running back position.
