Head coach Shane Beamer and offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains have got to be feeling good about where South Carolina's quarterback position currently stands, both for the present and the future. With star quarterback Spencer Rattler coming back for 2023, impressive young bucks like Tanner Bailey and LaNorris Sellers being in their first or second year in the program, and four-star 2024 quarterback Dante Reno joining the team next offseason, the Gamecocks most important position is in good hands.

This has allowed the coaching staff to look ahead to the 2025 recruiting cycle, and until yesterday, only a couple of quarterbacks had received offers from the Gamecocks. This all changed late last night, when three different 2025 quarterback prospects in Deuce Knight, Ryan Montgomery and Will Wilson.

Right now, the quarterback who's received the most national notoriety has been Deuce Knight, a Mississippi native who's received offers from teams like Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon and several others. Knight has tested well in the Elite 11 camp series and also visited South Carolina for their Spring game, a visit which he described as "great", with the Gamecocks "really [impressing him]."

Ryan Montgomery is another national-level quarterback prospect who's from the state of Ohio, and is rated as the 14th best quarterback and 209th best prospect nationally, according to On3's Consensus Industry Rankings. Montgomery is being heavily pursued by teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Kentucky, Clemson and others. Ryan visited Columbia back in early April, and was evaluated by offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains at his practice back on May 24th, an evaluation which likely led to the offer.

The offer that might excite South Carolina fans the most out of this trio is Will Wilson, a native of Columbia, SC who plays for Richland Northeast High School. Wilson doesn't have a rating from every major recruiting service outlet, but looks to be a potential Power 5 quarterback at the collegiate level, considering he holds offers from Penn State, Arkansas, NC State, TCU, Virginia Tech and Duke. Wilson is the second in-state quarterback from the 2025 class to be offered by the Gamecocks, with the other prospect being Irmo High School quarterback AJ Brand. Wilson has visited South Carolina on two different occasions, once during bowl practice this past December and again for Junior day back in January.
