Gamecocks Add Three-Star LB to June Official Visitor List
June is expected to be pivotal for the Gamecocks and their 2024 recruiting class. The team has flooded its calendar with several high-priority official visitors and is seemingly still adding to that group. The Gamecocks have added an official visit from an intriguing linebacker prospect with interest from elite programs.
Elijah Newby, a three-star LB from Connecticut, had locked in an OV with South Carolina for the weekend of June 9th. Newby attends Chesire Academy, the same high school South Carolina commit QB Dante Reno attends.
Though he is just a three-star, according to On3's Industry Ranking, Newby will be visiting some top programs during the month of June. After visiting Columbia, Newby will head to Pennsylvania to check out Penn State. Afterward, he will head to California to see Stanford, and the LB is also expected to make arrangements for an OV with Southern Cal'.
Currently, the Gamecocks have just one LB commitment in the class of 2024 in Wendell Gregory. Furthermore, the team is looking to add some pass-rushing juice to its upcoming classes, something Newby specializes in. Landing Newby would go a long way for shoring up the defensive front in South Carolina's 2024 recruiting class and offering Defensive Coordinator Clayton White some talent to utilize off the edge.
