Currently, South Carolina's 2024 class is considered one of the best recruiting classes in the country, and with where the Gamecocks currently stand with other prospects in the class could end up being the best recruiting haul in the program's history. One of their commits is linebacker Wendell Gregory out of Walton High School in Marietta, GA., a modern-day linebacker whose athleticism and high motor give him plus coverage ability at the second level.

While Gregory has been in the fold since late January, that hasn't stopped other Power 5 programs from trying to stay in contact or throw their proverbial hat in the ring with Wendell. While this has continued throughout the offseason, in a recent interview with FanNation's own Brooks Austin, Gregory made it clear that he's 100 percent committed to South Carolina.

"Coach White came down [recently], [and] I told him I'm not talking to any coaches - I'm going on one official visit [to South Carolina, and] that's my only official visit."

Regarding why Gregory is fully bought into what South Carolina's doing, he referenced his relationship with the people in the program, saying, "It's a bond. It's a real family. I'm from there, [and] every time I go back, it gets better and better. I'm locked in." Regarding his development and what he'll look to refine over the coming months, Wendell wants to be quicker with his feet so that he can be equally dangerous when rushing the passer off the edge or playing in coverage in multiple areas of the field.

Of course, Shane Beamer and his staff are still pursuing several hot names on the trail, and South Carolina's current 2024 commits have played a unique role in these recruiting efforts. Gregory conveyed to Austin that he plans to be a part of those efforts throughout the rest of the cycle.

"There's a lot of guys [we're pursuing]. We've got a running back coming in soon. Not gonna say too much, [but] the 2024 class is gonna be amazing."

In regards to what he wants to accomplish at South Carolina, his words would be music to Gamecock fans' ears.

"I'm looking forward to a championship - When we get there, [I] wanna develop, get better, [get] a winning record, go to the championship, and beat Clemson in the Palmetto Bowl."
