Gamecocks Check In On Portal WR Keon Coleman
One of the hottest names in the NCAA Transfer Portal right now is Michigan State wide receiver Keon Coleman. Since entering the transfer portal at the end of April, Coleman has garnered attention from seemingly every college football program in the nation.
According to Hayes Fawcett from On3 Sports, 59 division-one programs have reached out to Coleman since he announced his departure from Michigan State, making him one of the most sought-after prospects in the country. Amongst the many teams checking in on Coleman include 11 SEC teams, South Carolina being one of them.
In his second season at Michigan State, Coleman tallied 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns—impressive numbers for the underclassman, who is expected to be an elite receiver this year. The former Louisiana native already has a few visits set up, as Coleman visited Florida State and Auburn this past weekend, and is expected to stop by Oxford, MS to check out the Ole Miss Rebels on Tuesday.
With all of the attention on Coleman, the Gamecocks will have their hands full trying to bring Coleman to Columbia. Obviously, reaching out to Coleman is just a formality, but he could help finalize the Gamecocks' receiving room which could use another proven playmaker alongside Antwane Wells Jr.
