Gamecocks Make Top 5 For 2024 LB Devin Smith

South Carolina's Football program has made the latest for Brunswick High School (GA) standout Devin Smith.

Shane Beamer and South Carolina's defensive coaching staff have uncovered and landed multiple underrated defensive skill players throughout the Summer. It started with linebacker prospect Fred Johnson out of Norfolk, VA, who pledged to Clayton White and the Gamecocks in mid-June and continued with Savannah native David Bucey, who committed in the early part of last week and could play either linebacker or safety at the college level.

South Carolina has also remained in contention for another possibly overlooked defensive player by the name of Devin Smith, who claims offers from programs like Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, and several others yet is rated a consensus 3-star prospect by the major recruiting services. While little has come out regarding the current status of the relationship between South Carolina and Devin Smith, it appears that the lines of communication aren't just open but remain strong, as the Gamecocks made Smith's Top 5 that he released on Monday morning.

According to On3, Smith has visited Columbia on three different occasions, with his most recent trip taking place for the Georgia matchup this past September. Since then, Smith has seen schools like Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Auburn, all of whom encompass the rest of his final list of schools.
