With all of the changes that have taken place over the past few years in the recruiting world, the best high school football players across the country are making their decisions quicker than ever. Official visits being allowed during the Summer, the emphasis on relationship-centric recruiting, and an early national signing day in December will have that effect.

One thing, however, that now flies under the radar more than ever before is the importance of summer camp performances that take place over the Summer for major college football programs. For most programs in college football, this is a time period where diamonds in the rough are discovered, leading to new offers and a shifting of recruiting boards for multiple programs. This has already taken place with South Carolina regarding Arkansas native Joseph McVay.

McVay, who competes in football, basketball, and track and field, recorded a 6'6 standing high jump back on April 12th and, just nine days later, received an offer from South Carolina. Joseph was also recorded running at 22.67 MPH at an Arkansas Elite 100 camp later in the Spring and thus has seen multiple Power 5 offers pour in. Now in the Summer, McVay is ready to start narrowing down his options and announced his top six schools on Wednesday afternoon, including the Gamecocks.

Penn State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Tulane and UTSA comprised the rest of Joseph's Top 6 grouping.
