The Gamecocks started the 2026 class off with a bang on Friday evening by earning the commitment of Landon Duckworth, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound quarterback from Alabama who already has six SEC offers out of his ten he has racked up so far.

Landon told GamecocksDigest that he committed to quarterback coach Dowell Loggains and head coach Shane Beamer last Friday at South Carolina's cookout event.

The rising sophomore also told us that he committed to the Gamecocks out of a final three which consisted of a fellow SEC foe in Florida and TCU, who just got done playing for a national championship.

It’s still very early, but many believe that by the time the 2026 cycle comes around, Landon will be one of the top quarterbacks in his class. The Gamecocks will likely receive more competition later down the line, but a commitment this early will also help South Carolina when battling any new school that may try to jump in late. This commitment could also help the Gamecocks early with the prospects in the class of 2026 that have been offered by the Gamecocks so far, like wide receiver Aaron Gregory, tight end Heze Kent, and running back Jaylen McGill.
