Remaining Recruiting Targets For Shane Beamer & Co.

With Dylan Stewart now in the fold, South Carolina's Football program can set their sights fully on a small group of targets remaining on their 2024 board.

On Tuesday morning, 5-star edge rusher Dylan Stewart caught everybody, including the city of Columbia, off-guard by spontaneously committing to the Gamecocks without any sort of ceremony or an announcement of a commitment date. In the long term, Gamecock Nation and the staff will appreciate this move from Stewart because the stress surrounding his recruitment has quickly evaporated.

This means that South Carolina can focus on what is viewed as the last group of targets that remains on their 2024 board. Who are these targets?

Prospects Set To Commit

WR Jonathan Paylor | August 4th (Friday)

Paylor has been a long-time wide receiver target for wide receivers coach Justin Stepp and has taken countless visits to Columbia, including an official visit from June 23rd through the 25th. Unfortunately, nearing his decision date, it appears NC State has a groundswell of momentum on their side, momentum that could be tough for South Carolina to overcome.

DB Jalewis Solomon | August 5th (Saturday)

While the vibes surrounding Paylor's recruitment aren't great, that doesn't seem to be the case with Georgia native Jalewis Solomon. Solomon was in Columbia late last week for the Gamecocks' annual Summer cookout, and when multiple industry experts logged in predictions for Stewart to go to South Carolina on Tuesday, some also quietly put in predictions for Solomon to go to the Gamecocks.

RB Daniel Hill | August 23rd

Regarding this specific group, Hill might be the most crucial target right now on South Carolina's board. The Gamecocks have three running backs with just one or two years of eligibility remaining, and their fourth running back this season will be true freshman Dontavious Braswell, who possesses great speed. Still, we won't know what he truly offers until the season begins. Hill offers something none of the aforementioned backs do, a complete skillset, and could help change the reputation of South Carolina's ground game.

Wildcard

Edge Rusher KingJoseph Edwards

In Gamecock recruiting circles, Edwards has made plenty of noise over the Summer, first saying the Gamecocks were in his top three and then stating in an interview that the Gamecocks were the leader in his recruitment. KingJoseph is expected to make some visits this Fall, and as good as Dylan Stewart is, Sterling Lucas would probably like to add one more edge rusher to this class. Edwards could very well be that guy.
