Sharlandiin Strange "Cannot Wait To Come Back" To South Carolina
There have been several reactions from future prospects coming out of South Carolina's annual Summer cookout, and all of them have been overwhelmingly positive regarding the overall atmosphere and the Gamecocks coaching staff. This sentiment was no different when catching up with 2025 edge rusher Sharlandiin "Zaqq" Strange this past weekend, who made his first-ever trip to Columbia this past Friday and left blown away by everything.
"This was my first visit to South Carolina, and the first impression was great," Strange said. "All the coaches showed me great energy, [and] the atmosphere was amazing. It was just wonderful, [and] I cannot wait to come back."
One of the best recruiters on the Gamecocks' staff since his arrival in Columbia has been edge and outside linebacker coach Sterling Lucas due to how particularly strong his relationships are with his targets. Zaqq feels that he has that kind of bond with his primary recruiter.
"My relationship with Coach Lucas is really tight, like [we] really get along. I can really talk to [him]. I just really appreciate him, [and] am glad to have him in my life."
As previously mentioned, Sharlandiin is already thinking about the next time he can make it down to Columbia, so when I asked him if he planned to come back down during the season, his answer wasn't all that surprising.
"Most definitely, I plan to make it during the Fall. I need to come to a game. I have to. Maybe two."
As Sharlandiin prepares for Fall camp and his junior season at Cheltenham High School in Pennsylvania, he has his sights set on one big team-oriented goal and has already mentally prepared himself for what it'll take to accomplish it.
"Win State, [and] make everyone around me better," Zaqq stated. "If I'm doing good, but other people are not doing good, then as a team we're not gonna do good. So every day I try to make all the young guys better, give them knowledge that the older people in my life gave me."
