BREAKING: South Carolina Target Jontae Gilbert Decommits From Ohio State
Jontae Gilbert has been one of the biggest targets in the 2025 class for Torrian Gray and Shane Beamer and has expressed interest in the program despite his commitment to Ohio State. However, after taking an unofficial visit to South Carolina on Thursday, one which he said made him feel like he was at home, it appears the Georgia native has decided to fully reopen his recruitment, as he decommitted from the Buckeyes on Saturday night.
Gilbert also mentioned to me on Thursday that the message Coach Gray and this staff have been trying to send him is that he is a top priority and that they want him to play defensive back for them. The staff is also open to playing him at safety and corner if he decides to play for Carolina.
Needless to say, the Gamecocks will be working extra hard now to make sure they finish the job with Jontae, as he still has plenty of time to consider all of his options before finalizing any decision.
