In-State OL On Recent Visit To South Carolina: "Everything Was Amazing"
So far, one of the biggest staples of South Carolina's 2024 recruiting class is the Gamecocks' potential future book-end tackle duo of Kam Pringle and Josiah Thompson, who are South Carolina natives. While national signing day for the 2026 recruiting class is a long way away, rising sophomore Desmond Green is another offensive lineman from the Palmetto state that Gamecock fans should keep a close eye on moving forward.
Already touting offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia Tech, South Florida, and others, Green looks to have the potential to be a national-level prospect when the rankings for his class begin to come out. On Friday, Desmond was in attendance for South Carolina's annual Summer cookout event, the first time that the Timberland High School product had gotten to take a look at everything the Gamecocks had to offer. He came away very impressed.
"Overall, I thought everything was amazing, from the athletic facilities to the campus. It was my first time seeing USC outside of Williams-Brice and the Indoor Facility, and it was great overall."
Regarding relationships with the coaching staff, Green has gotten to chat with Lonnie Teasley more than Shane Beamer to this point, but the genuineness of both coaches is evident in Desmond's interactions with them.
"I've had more of a chance to speak with Coach Teasley more than Coach Beamer, but both of them are great guys that clearly focus on not only football but leading men to be greater on and off the field."
South Carolina was Green's third offer in the recruiting process, which was officially dispensed on June 19th of this Summer, and while the in-state prospect is excited to know that the state's flagship university is eyeballing him, he's not resting on his laurels by any means.
"To have been offered this early [by South Carolina] was an indicator to me that now I've got their attention, [but] it's time to put the gas pedal through the floor."
Desmond's overall mentality, drive, and love for football is evidenced by the goals he's set out for the upcoming season, which he hopes involves a lot of winning for himself and his Timberland Wolves teammates.
"Win at home, win the region, and finish the season with a win."
