Gamecocks In Contact With Transfer Forward Josh Cohen
The first year for South Carolina's basketball program under the guise of Lamont Paris has come to a close, which means the staff is now trying to ascertain who'll be back for next season and who they might be able to add via the transfer portal. The Gamecocks have already contacted two in-state transfers in The Citadel's Stephen Clark and Wofford's BJ Mack, but coach Paris and his staff are just getting started.
According to On3 National Recruiting Expert Joe Tipton, the Gamecocks have entered the race for St. Francis big-man Josh Cohen, along with many other programs stretching across the country.
Cohen was one of the most dominant frontcourt players in the country this season, regardless of conference affiliation, as he averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Combined with the reported interest in BJ Mack, the Gamecocks are conveying that they're prioritizing bringing in some more help for center Josh Gray, who's both announced he's returning for next season and had to carry the brunt of the load at the position this past season.
With the transfer portal officially open for underclassmen on March 13th, there will be much more activity over the coming weeks.
