Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks are currently trying to close the deal on several huge targets from the 2024 recruiting class. Sometimes, however, a staff can get an opportunity to get a kid in the fold extremely early in the process, which can serve as a building block for that prospect's respective class.

This happened with South Carolina and 2024 quarterback Dante Reno, who committed in June of 2022, and could happen again, this time with 2026 quarterback prospect Landon Duckworth. The Alabama native has already added some prominent programs to his offer sheet, programs like Florida, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, TCU, Nebraska, and UCF.

Landon has taken two visits to South Carolina at this point, one for the Garnet and Black Spring game on April 15th and another one this past weekend. In between those visits, Duckworth earned an offer from the Gamecocks on May 27th, and when chatting with him after the fact, he had plenty of good things to say about the atmosphere in Columbia, and his relationship with offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.

When it comes to the process of trying to narrow down where a recruit will actually commit, you simply have to follow the visits. Duckworth has made Columbia his destination on two of his last four recruiting trips, with this past weekend's being the one preceding this sudden announcement that he was committing soon. With that bearing in mind, I have to think the Gamecocks are in a very good spot here with the rising sophomore.
