Gamecock Target Malcolm Ziglar Sets Commitment Date
When it comes to recruiting high school talent, South Carolina's Football coaching staff prides themselves on not just being able to land some of the most talented prospects in the entire country but also spot underrated players long before everyone else catches up. One of the staff's most recent examples on the defensive end is North Carolina safety prospect Malcolm Ziglar, who only had five Power 5 offers by the end of January.
South Carolina offered Ziglar back on February 13th, and after that, teams like Penn State, Notre Dame, Louisville, Kentucky, and Clemson offered the rising senior from Fuquay-Varina High School. It appears that Malcolm is nearing the end of his recruitment, as he tweeted on Wednesday that he'll be committing on July 17th.
While South Carolina has hosted Ziglar for two visits this year, including an official visit back on the weekend of June 9th-11th, it appears that the Gamecocks have some stiff competition in the form of Notre Dame, who just hosted Malcolm for an official visit, and North Carolina, who'll be welcoming him this coming weekend. It seems likely that Ziglar will decide between these three schools when decision day comes in mid-July.
