Top 2025 TE Davon Mitchell Narrows Recruitment
n the college football stratosphere, South Carolina has been a constant point of discussion lately because of their largely successful stretch of recruiting, which has included commitments from 2023 standout Nyckoles Harbor and 2024 OT Cam Pringle. Much of the reason for South Carolina's recent stint of successful recruiting is its extensive and personal outreach to recruits, spanning across the country and multiple graduating classes.
This attention to detail has paid off, as the number one ranked 2025 TE, Davon Mitchell, has narrowed his recruiting to 11 schools, South Carolina included. Mitchell, the 26th highest-ranked player in the class of 2025, has already received overwhelming national attention, much because of his freakish athletic ability. Despite being 6-4 245 pounds, Mitchell moves with effortless speed, which most DBs cannot keep up with in the open field or in coverage.
In addition to being an athletic freak, Mitchell is one of the best pass-catchers in the country. Due to his large size, he possesses an extraordinary catch radius. He frequently hauls in one-handed catches and is willing to go over a defensive back to make a play.
In addition to South Carolina, Mitchell's narrowed recruiting list includes SEC schools Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. USC, Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Oklahoma, and Texas are the other six schools on his list.
