BREAKING: Stanford five-star freshman Andrej Stojakovic enters name into transfer portal
The departures keep on coming for Stanford's basketball team, as just one day after freshman star Kanaan Carlyle announced that he would be entering his name into the portal, his classmate and five-star freshman, Andrej Stojakovic, did the same.
According to On3's Joe Tipton, Stojakovic will also be entering his name in the portal, which means Stanford lost both of their top-55 recruits from this past class following the firing of head coach Jerod Haase. For Stojakovic, he averaged 7.8 points per game this past season, and while he did have a lot of bright moments, he was still adjusting to the college game and also trying to figure out what his role is.
Stojakovic played in all 32 games, starting 10 of them and logging over 22 minutes per game. With all of the wing players that Stanford had this season with guys like Spencer Jones, Brandon Angel, and even someone like Michael Jones, it was never quite clear what the vision was for Stojakovic.
He showed flashes early at times of being a high-volume scorer, but with Stanford lacking a true identity it was clear that players struggled to find their roles.
Six intriguing names to replace Jerod Haase at Stanford
Stojakovic, who is the son of NBA Champion and 3x All-Star Peja Stojakovic was ranked as the No. 25 player by 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He chose Stanford over UCLA and Texas.
Whoever the new coach is will have quite the roster revamp ahead of them, with Stanford holding just one commitment in their 2024 class and a major chunk of their rotation expected to depart.
