George Kliavkoff addresses Pac-12 expansion at media day
While a lot of college football fans are curious to know what the media rights deal will be for the Pac-12, which was addressed at Friday's Pac-12 media day, there is more interest in what comes after.
Despite the conference's inconsistencies in clearly explaining where they are in assembling and landing their media rights deal, one thing has been certain this entire year. If and when they expand in order to help make up for the losses of USC and UCLA, it will come after the deal. Something San Diego State learned the hard way after a player revealed at Mountain West media day that they had been told they were joining the Pac-12 on multiple occasions.
The longstanding belief has been that the conference will add two programs in San Diego State and SMU, with schools such as Boise State and UNLV being considered as on the outside looking in. On top of having a confusing message about where the conference stands with their media rights deal, Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff also touched on expansion today.
The phrasing "handful of schools" stands out the most as it in a way leaves the door open for more than two programs to be added, or it is just his way of not revealing who's in.
