After reports on Saturday indicated that Stanford and Cal were considering exploring the possibility of joining the Big 12, Action Network's Brett McMurphy reported on Sunday that the Big 12 is in fact not interested in the remaining programs.

As it stands right now, Stanford and Cala are awaiting a solution with the ACC as they are hoping to receive an invitation, which according to ESPN's Pete Thamel has a "soft deadline" of Week 1 (next week). If the Big 12 were in fact interested in adding the last four Pac-12 programs, they'd be the first conference at 20 teams and it would make more geographical sense for Stanford and Cal who will have some lofty travel expenses if they move to the ACC.

Earlier in August, Brett Yormark did express that the Big 12 is done with expansion for now, which appears to remain true despite the reports on Saturday.

So in short, it is currently ACC or bust for Stanford and Cal.
