Stanford Cardinal Head Coach Troy Taylor Feels Great About Their Culture
With the regular season coming to a close for the Stanford Cardinal on Saturday, it's a great moment for Stanford head coach Troy Taylor to reflect upon his first year on the coaching staff of the Cardinal.
Stanford is set to play No. 17 Notre Dame as their last regular-season game in 2023 which will be a test on its own.
Even though the Cardinal has only won three games this year, Taylor is proud of the team's established culture, their dedication to one another and their grit during the ups and downs this year.
"I feel great about our culture," Taylor said. "I think the fight, we talk about sticking together through it all and our guys have done that. They've worked really hard. Our guys have worked through little nicks and bruises that happen when you are playing football and continue to work through those things. When you see a team come back from a 29-point deficit at halftime, if you don't have a great culture or a great locker room and strong leadership with your players and all those things, that doesn't happen."
During the month of October, the Cardinal overcame a 29-point deficit while playing the Colorado Buffaloes. In the double-overtime matchup, Stanford ended up taking the victory with a 46-43 score.
Although Taylor is proud of his team's perseverance, he knows that work still needs to be done and reaffirmed that improvement will be made
"We got to get better," Taylor said, "there's no question, and we will, but the culture part of that, the work ethic, what's important to us, our guiding principles, all of those things, I feel great about it."
