For Stanford, there will not be a bowl game appearance in the cards for them following a 3-9 season in Troy Taylor's first year.

The first-year head coach inherited a team that lost its starting quarterback, receivers, linebackers, and entire secondary making it one of the least experienced in the country. Progress was made throughout the year as stars emerged, but it is evident that this roster will need an influx of talent to help out. Something Troy Taylor discussed following their regular season loss to Notre Dame, as the Cardinal has assembled the No. 27 recruiting class in the country.

"We will continue to recruit," said Taylor. "We got an unbelievable recruiting class that were excited about that we're going to sign on December 20 and we will get bigger, we'll get stronger, we'll get faster, we'll improve as a coaching staff. Just really excited about the future."

Stanford's class is headlined by four-star Mater Dei quarterback Elijah Brown, who has compiled a 42-2 record as a starter and is looking to lead the Monarchs to a California State title.

In terms of the transfer portal, Stanford has shown a willingness to use it under Taylor, and he made it clear that they will continue to utilize the portal to the best of their ability as they along with players on the roster determine their plans for next year

"So we'll figure that out, the roster and all of those things," said Taylor. "We have time, we're going right into recruiting and so all those things will play itself out and we have the transfer portal as well. So, there's a lot of moving parts but just right now it's about gratitude for this group of young men that gave their all for an entire almost year now."

The Cardinal have already offered Harvard defensive lineman Thor Griffith, and will have a chance to get into the mix much earlier this season than last year as Taylor was hired five days after the portal had already been open. Taylor and company have a big offseason ahead of them in terms of bolstering the roster, and they also have a move to the ACC on the horizon.
