Troy Taylor Said Cardinal Roster is 'Continuing to Develop'
Another week, another loss for the Stanford Cardinal. On Saturday, at Stanford Stadium, Arizona victoriously left the field with a 21-20 win over the Cardinal. Stanford coach, Troy Taylor, discussed the process of rebuilding the team after yet another loss.
Taylor first addressed the quarterback position occupied by both Justin Lamson and Ashton Daniels in a rotation format. Neither of them are catching Taylor's eye as a definite leader of the offense just yet.
"Until somebody emerges, I'll probably play both of them," Taylor said.
As far as addressing the reconstruction of his team, Taylor does not want to look too far ahead. He wants his roster to treat each game and each week as if they are playing for a title.
"We are really a day-to-day, game-to-game operation," Taylor said. "Each week, each game is like a bowl game for us, a championship for us. We're really focused in now, not later in the season."
With the loss to Arizona, the Cardinal now holds a 1-3 overall record and are 0-2 in Pac-12 play. After two back-to-back dreadful losses, the first to Sacramento State and then a one-point deficit knockout by Arizona, Stanford will host Oregon next week, currently one of the five remaining ranked teams on the Cardinal's schedule.
While it may seem like a sluggish start to Taylor's debut season with the Cardinal, he still has hope to finish out the year strong, but still acknowledges his setbacks.
"Now that being said, I sure hope we're a better team if we're healthy," Taylor said. "I hope we're a better team at the end of the season than we are now. That will happen if we're staying healthy and we're continuing to develop."
